See the Statue of Liberty From a Boat
When was the last time you enjoyed a boat ride? These days everyone is trying to get where they’re going as fast as possible, but on your vacation, why not take it a bit slower? On the Zephyr Statue of Liberty Express tour, you get to hop onto a boat and cruise around the Statue of Liberty. Take in the sights at a relaxing place and let us do all the navigating.
New York From a New Perspective
The tour will begin with one of the world’s most recognizable statues: the Statue of Liberty. In the past, this was one of the first images any immigrant would see when they came to the United States. From Ellis Island, new Americans could see the massive copper statue promising a chance for a more prosperous life. You too will be able to see the world from this perspective when you land on the small stretch of land in the Upper New York Bay. As you walk through those historic three acres, perhaps you’ll gain an even deeper understanding of the old American dream.
From this location, you will then visit Battery Park near the southern tip of Manhattan Island. Originally, the park was home to artillery and ammunitions that were stored for the sake of protecting the initial settlement. Now, it is filled with memorials and reminders of important moments in American History. Next, you will see the famous Brooklyn Bridge, which is a hybrid cable and suspension overpass.
After you pass through the bridge, you will find yourself on Governor’s Island. This spot is home to several historic forts and national monuments. The island spans 172 acres and was a training field for Continental Army troops in the American Revolution. Until recently, the island also house Army and Coast Guard installations.
The Colgate Clock offers a different view of history, because it is a relic of United States industry and economic achievements. It is just one of the many sites you can explore in the Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan areas on our boat tours. Perhaps one of the most memorable experiences will be seeing the Freedom Tower. Following 9/11, the country wanted to find a way to honor the victims and their families. The Tower stands where the original twin towers stood and is currently the largest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.
