Meatpacking District Neighborhood Guide

East to West boundaries are Hudson Street to the Hudson River, and the North to South boundaries are West 14th Street to Gansevoort Street. The Meatpacking Business Improvement District stretches further north to West 17th Street, east to 8th Avenue, and south to Horatio Street.

The Meatpacking District is a hip, primarily commercial area lined with cobblestone streets filled with trendy restaurants and bars. Once the domain of meatpacking plants, huge factories have been turned into high-end designer clothing stores, stylish boutiques and art galleries. The High Line, an elevated park built on an old railroad bed, runs through the area. It is sometimes known as New York City’s adult Disney Land.
