Shopping in New York City is an All-American pastime even for bargain hunters determined to find the best deals. Over the past several years more and more outlets have moved in closer to major metropolitan areas to satisfy the urban dwellers’ thirst for a deal. Whether you want to head out to a major shopping mecca or stay in town, we’ve found some great outlets that will satisfy your shopping needs.

Woodbury Common Premium Outlets tops the list as a destination shopping experience. Find more than 250 of the most sought after high-end fashion and designer retail brands in one spot, including Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Burberry, Coach, the North Face, Botegga Veneta, and many more. A shopper trolley helps you get around the expansive outlet and a newly renovated Market Hall serves up nearly two dozen appetite-satisfying delectably delicious eateries to refuel for more shopping.

Located in Central Valley, NY, you can take a bus right from midtown Manhattan with multiple departure and return times throughout the day directly to the Woodbury outlet.

Empire Outlets, also known as Harbor Commons, is an outdoor outlet located just steps from the Staten Island Ferry, with perfect views of lower Manhattan. A lushly landscaped plaza and tranquil fountains bring a balance to the shopping frenzy. With 350,000 square feet of shopper paradise you’re sure to find some deals to make your day. This new outlet (2019) is clean and spacious as well as easily accessible via the free Staten Island Ferry. You’ll find stores such as Banana Republic, Nordstrom, Nike, H&M, Columbia, and more.

The Mills at Jersey Gardens is a two-level outlet mall in Elizabeth, NJ, with more than 200 stores. To get there, you can take a bus from the Port Authority on the corner of 42nd and 8th. Popular stores include Michael Kors, Puma, Victoria’s Secret, Guess, Coach, True Religion, and Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Kids Outlet, Kate Spade, and many more. Take a coffee break at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, eat pretzels at Auntie Anne’s, cool off with Cold Stone Creamery ice cream, or have an entire meal at Applebee’s.

Stop by the information desk to buy a $7 coupon book which will be well worth it if you actually make purchases. This is a huge mall so it can be helpful to download a map before you go to plan your itinerary. Or just wing it, which is my favorite way to shop!
